I have been a professional singing teacher and performer for 17 years, working with all styles of music and students with every kind of voice imaginable.

Currently I am a part time peripatetic singing teacher for Northamptonshire Music Services, visiting several schools in and around Northampton. Alongside this, I maintain a large well established private teaching practice, which operates from the recording studio 'Timeless Studios', which I own, together with my husband, Ian. The studio is annexed to our 17th century farmhouse, which we share with our three children. The whole building is always bursting with creative energies, from the music that we, our children, our studio clients and pupils make. Apart from coming to improve their vocal technique, I think many of my long-standing pupils return again and again to fill up on this atmosphere.

I graduated from the Birmingham School of Music (renamed the Birmingham Conservatoire) in 1986. Until then, my training had been strictly classical and I covered the standard Opera, Choral, German, French and English Song repertoire. After leaving college I then pursued a professional career in Pop and Rock, adapting my vocal technique to cope with the demands of this very different style of singing. Together with Ian, I formed the music duo 'Timeless', specialising in 80's and 90's dance music and pop rock. The duo enjoyed a very long successful period and still gigs to date. At the same time, my classical voice has matured and is used regularly to fulfil many solo engagements.

I have always strongly believed that if they wish, a singer should be versatile and be able to adapt a good solid vocal technique to many styles of singing. I am living testament to this in both my own career as a singer and the voices I nurture as a teacher. I also encourage my pupils to discover their own voice and learn to love its individual beauty. This helps to banish nerves and build a strong confidence in what they can achieve. Above all else, I believe a singer should really enjoy singing and the pleasure that it can give to the listener.

My pupils are completely diverse and include both the young and more mature person, beginners and those already professional, students wishing to gain entry to music and performing arts courses and mothers simply wanting time-out for themselves – to name but a few.

The only qualifications needed to have lessons, are a deep desire to sing and bags of enthusiasm. If you have these, I can help you.
